The present review is aimed to compare two AV receivers - Marantz AV8805 vs Onkyo TX-RZ3100 that are meant to satisfy the needs of cinema and music lovers.

Amplifier

A significant difference between the receivers in the number of channels, Marantz AV8805 has 13.2 versus 11.2 for Onkyo TX-RZ3100. The THD is 0.08% for the AV8805 but 0.04% for the TX-RZ3100.

Audio features

Competitors' digital to analog converter (DAC) is identical to AK4490 384 KHz/32-bit. Both the AV8805 and the TX-RZ3100 support Bi-amping. Each of the AV receivers can transmit an audio signal directly to the amplifier and bypasses any DSP processing.
