Amplifier

The number of channels for receivers is different - 7.2 versus 2.1, respectively, for devices. In terms of power, there are differences, the AVR-S960H has such a ratio W/Ohm - 90/8, 125/6, while the R-N600A has a power of 80/8, 60/6. The value of total harmonic distortion is also different, and for the AVR-S960H it is 0.08%, but for the R-N600A it is 0.07%. The Bi-amping function is implemented only in the Yamaha R-N600A. Both Denon AVR-S960H and Yamaha R-N600A can transmit an audio signal directly to the amplifier and bypasses any DSP processing.

Connectivity

These units have the same Wi-Fi modules. Each of the receivers has a Bluetooth connector. Both devices can work with such Apple Music services: AirPlay, AirPlay 2. HDMI signal transmission in standby mode can provide only the AVR-S960H. Video scaling is only possible with the AVR-S960H. Operation with the Dolby Vision is only possible with the AVR-S960H. HDMI Audio Return Channel is only available on Denon AVR-S960H. HDMI eARC is only supported by the AVR-S960H. When comparing receivers, it becomes clear that only the Denon AVR-S960H has HDMI CEC. Like most receivers, our models have a built-in phono stage for connecting a vinyl player. Voice control is performed using Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri, Josh.AI in both models. There is an ECO mode in either AV receiver. The Denon AVR-S960H and the Yamaha R-N600A can be properly configured using the setup assistant.

Multichannel surround

A Dolby Atmos multichannel audio format is available only in the AVR-S960H. Only in the AVR-S960H realized a DTS:X surround technology.
