Denon AVR-X4000 vs Harman Kardon HK 3700 – that is a question.
The number of channels for receivers is different - 7.2 versus 2.0, respectively, for devices. In terms of power, there are differences, the AVR-X4000 has such a ratio W/Ohm - 125/8, 165/6, while the HK 3700 has a power of 85/8. The value of total harmonic distortion is also different, and for the AVR-X4000 it is 0.05%, but for the HK 3700 it is 0.07%.
Competitive models use the same DAC. The Bi-amping function is implemented only in the Denon AVR-X4000. The model AVR-X4000 can transmit an audio signal directly to the amplifier and bypasses any DSP processing.
Wireless Internet connection via WIFI is only possible with AVR-X4000. Each of the receivers has a Bluetooth connector. The AVR-X4000 has access to the Spotify service. The number of available streaming services varies for receivers, the Denon AVR-X4000 works with Pandora, Sirius XM, but the Harman Kardon HK 3700 works with vTuner.
Oddly enough, the support for the HDR function is not implemented in these units. HDMI signal transmission in standby mode can provide only the AVR-X4000. Video scaling is only possible with the AVR-X4000. Review participants do not have the Dolby Vision feature. HDMI Audio Return Channel is only available on Denon AVR-X4000. HDMI eARC is not supported by the AVR-X4000 and the HK 3700. When comparing receivers, it becomes clear that only the Denon AVR-X4000 has HDMI CEC. Like most receivers, our models have a built-in phono stage for connecting a vinyl player. Voice control of the basic functions of the receiver is not realized in both models. There is an ECO mode in neither AV receiver. The Denon AVR-X4000 can be properly configured using the setup assistant.
Generally no support for a Dolby Atmos multichannel audio format. A DTS:X surround technology is not supported by devices from our comparison.
