Amplifier

The number of channels for receivers is different - 7.2 versus 2.1, respectively, for devices. In terms of power, there are differences, the RX-A2A has such a ratio W/Ohm - 100/8, while the R-N800A has a power of 100/8, 120/6. The value of total harmonic distortion is also different, and for the RX-A2A it is 0.06%, but for the R-N800A it is 0.07%.

Audio features

The manufacturer installed different DACs, the RX-A2A received the model 384 KHz/32-bit, but the R-N800A is equipped with 192 KHz/32-bit. Each of the compared opponents supports Bi-amping. Both Yamaha RX-A2A and Yamaha R-N800A can transmit an audio signal directly to the amplifier and bypasses any DSP processing.

Connectivity

These units have the same Wi-Fi modules. Each of the receivers has a Bluetooth connector. Both devices can work with such Apple Music services: AirPlay, AirPlay 2. HDMI Audio Return Channel is only available on Yamaha RX-A2A. HDMI eARC is only supported by the RX-A2A. When comparing receivers, it becomes clear that only the Yamaha RX-A2A has HDMI CEC. Like most receivers, our models have a built-in phono stage for connecting a vinyl player. Voice control is performed using Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri, Josh.AI in both models. There is an ECO mode in either AV receiver. The Yamaha RX-A2A and the Yamaha R-N800A can be properly configured using the setup assistant.

Multichannel surround

A Dolby Atmos multichannel audio format is available only in the RX-A2A. Only in the RX-A2A realized a DTS:X surround technology.
