The Denon AVR-X540BT vs Sony STR-DH770 comparison will be extremely helpful for people who want to get a great, powerful receiver with many functions.

Amplifier

The number of channels for receivers is different - 5.2 versus 7.2, respectively, for devices. In terms of power, there are differences, the AVR-X540BT has such a ratio W/Ohm - 70/8, 90/6, while the STR-DH770 has a power of 105/6. The value of total harmonic distortion is also different, and for the AVR-X540BT it is 0.08%, but for the STR-DH770 it is 0.09%.

Audio features

Competitive models use the same DAC. The Bi-amping function is implemented only in the Sony STR-DH770. Both Denon AVR-X540BT and Sony STR-DH770 can transmit an audio signal directly to the amplifier and bypasses any DSP processing.

Connectivity

Wireless connection to the Internet via WIFI can not be performed on these receivers. Each of the receivers has a Bluetooth connector. Support for Apple Music Services not implemented. The AVR-X540BT has access to the Spotify service.

Video features

Support for the HDR function can only boast of each of the AV receivers. The quality of 4K/60Hz signal remains unchanged when transmitting from a source to a TV or projector via HDMI for both receivers. Signaling over HDMI in standby mode can provide the AVR-X540BT and the STR-DH770. None of the devices can increase the resolution of the incoming video signal. Operation with the Dolby Vision is only possible with the AVR-X540BT.

Extensive connections

Voice control of the basic functions of the receiver is not realized in both models. There is an ECO mode in AVR-X540BT. The Denon AVR-X540BT can be properly configured using the setup assistant.

Multichannel surround

Generally no support for a Dolby Atmos multichannel audio format. A DTS:X surround technology is not supported by devices from our comparison.
