Amplifier

Considered AV receivers have the same number of channels 2.0. Regarding power, then TX-8140 has such a W/Ohm ratio - 80/8, 110/6 when DTM-6 has a power of 80/8. The THD is the same and is 0.08%.

Audio features

Characteristics of digital to analog converter (DAC) are different, AK4458 384 KHz/32-bit for TX-8140 and AK4438 384 KHz/32-bit for the DTM-6. None of the models support Bi-amping. The Onkyo TX-8140 can transmit an audio signal directly to the amplifier and bypasses any DSP processing. None of the competitors supports Auto speaker calibration. Rivals from our review have Bluetooth support. Spotify can be used on each receiver. The TX-8140 can work with the audio stream from SiriusXM, and the DTM-6 can receive a content from Deezer, TIDAL, Pandora, TuneIn Radio.

Video features

HDR is not available on each model. Compared AV receivers are not able to transmit a 4K signal from the source to the TV or projector. HDMI signal transmission in standby mode is not supported by each device. Both competitors are not able to scale the HDMI signal. The HDR standard - Dolby Vision is not supported by these receivers. The HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) does not support any one of these models. Unfortunately, HDMI eARC is not available on monitored devices.
