Amplifier

A significant difference between the receivers in the number of channels, Onkyo TX-RZ50 has 9.2 versus 2.1 for Yamaha R-N2000A. Regarding power, then TX-RZ50 has such a W/Ohm ratio - 120/8, 250/6 when R-N2000A has a power of 90/8, 145/4. The THD is 0.08% for the TX-RZ50 but 0.07% for the R-N2000A.

Audio features

Characteristics of digital to analog converter (DAC) are different, 384 KHz/32-bit for TX-RZ50 and 192 KHz/32-bit for the R-N2000A. Both the TX-RZ50 and the R-N2000A support Bi-amping. Each of the AV receivers can transmit an audio signal directly to the amplifier and bypasses any DSP processing.

Only the TX-RZ50 provides HDMI signal transmission in standby mode. The TX-RZ50 can scale the input HDMI signal, unlike the R-N2000A. Dolby Vision technology found support only on the TX-RZ50. Only the TX-RZ50 supports HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC). The HDMI eARC is available only on the TX-RZ50. Of the two receivers in our comparison, HDMI CEC is present in only the TX-RZ50. These compared receivers have a built-in phono stage for connecting a vinyl player. Supported voice control technologies are identical - Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri, Josh.AI. It is also worth noting that the ECO mode is presented in each of the receivers. Both TX-RZ50 and R-N2000A can be configured using the Setup assistant.

Multichannel surround

Only the TX-RZ50 has a Dolby Atmos multichannel audio format support. A surround technology DTS:X is supported only by the TX-RZ50.
