Amplifier
A significant difference between the receivers in the number of channels, Pioneer VSX-935 has 7.2 versus 2.1 for Yamaha R-N2000A. Regarding power, then VSX-935 has such a W/Ohm ratio - 80/8, 170/6 when R-N2000A has a power of 90/8, 145/4. The THD is 0.08% for the VSX-935 but 0.07% for the R-N2000A.
Audio features
Characteristics of digital to analog converter (DAC) are different, 192 KHz/24-bit for VSX-935 and 192 KHz/32-bit for the R-N2000A. Both the VSX-935 and the R-N2000A support Bi-amping. The Yamaha R-N2000A can transmit an audio signal directly to the amplifier and bypasses any DSP processing.
Connectivity
WI-FI modules have the same characteristics: 2.4/5GHz. Rivals from our review have Bluetooth support. The Apple Music service is implemented on considered devices: AirPlay, AirPlay 2. Spotify can be used on each receiver. The VSX-935 can work with the audio stream from Deezer, TIDAL, Pandora, SiriusXM, Napster, SoundCloud, and the R-N2000A can receive a content from Deezer, TIDAL, Pandora, SiriusXM, Napster, SoundCloud, Amazon Music, Amazon Music HD, MOOD:Mix. Only the VSX-935 provides HDMI signal transmission in standby mode. The VSX-935 can scale the input HDMI signal, unlike the R-N2000A. Dolby Vision technology found support only on the VSX-935. Only the VSX-935 supports HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC). The HDMI eARC is available only on the VSX-935. The models in our review do not support the HDMI CEC function. These compared receivers have a built-in phono stage for connecting a vinyl player. Supported voice control technologies are identical - Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri, Josh.AI. An ECO mode is only available for the R-N2000A. Both VSX-935 and R-N2000A can be configured using the Setup assistant.
Multichannel surround
Only the VSX-935 has a Dolby Atmos multichannel audio format support. A surround technology DTS:X is supported only by the VSX-935.
