Amplifier
The number of channels for receivers is different - 7.2 versus 2.1, respectively, for devices. In terms of power, there are differences, the VSX-935 has such a ratio W/Ohm - 80/8, 170/6, while the R-N600A has a power of 80/8, 60/6. The value of total harmonic distortion is also different, and for the VSX-935 it is 0.08%, but for the R-N600A it is 0.07%.
Audio features
The manufacturer installed different DACs, the VSX-935 received the model 192 KHz/24-bit, but the R-N600A is equipped with 192 KHz/32-bit. Each of the compared opponents supports Bi-amping. The model R-N600A can transmit an audio signal directly to the amplifier and bypasses any DSP processing.
Connectivity
These units have the same Wi-Fi modules. Each of the receivers has a Bluetooth connector. Both devices can work with such Apple Music services: AirPlay, AirPlay 2. Access to the Spotify service is on each of the competitors. The number of available streaming services varies for receivers, the Pioneer VSX-935 works with Deezer, TIDAL, Pandora, SiriusXM, Napster, SoundCloud, but the Yamaha R-N600A works with Deezer, TIDAL, Pandora, SiriusXM, Napster, SoundCloud, Amazon Music, Amazon Music HD, MOOD:Mix. HDMI signal transmission in standby mode can provide only the VSX-935. Video scaling is only possible with the VSX-935. Operation with the Dolby Vision is only possible with the VSX-935. HDMI Audio Return Channel is only available on Pioneer VSX-935. HDMI eARC is only supported by the VSX-935. When comparing receivers, it becomes clear that HDMI CEC support is not implemented. Like most receivers, our models have a built-in phono stage for connecting a vinyl player. Voice control is performed using Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri, Josh.AI in both models. There is an ECO mode in R-N600A. The Pioneer VSX-935 and the Yamaha R-N600A can be properly configured using the setup assistant.
Multichannel surround
A Dolby Atmos multichannel audio format is available only in the VSX-935. Only in the VSX-935 realized a DTS:X surround technology.
